Phil, I disagree. I hope that the fear of mass unemployment prompts governments to realize that a Universal Basic Income will be needed.

Computers were supposed to create great unemployment but they ended up creating industries. One has only to think of the Luddites who worried that the artisans who worked would be put out of work due to the cotton gin and the steam engine. Those inventions however, created the Industrial Revolution which created more jobs than anything else in history. I think that the "product" or "business" of AI, will define the rest of the 21st century in a manner that truly transforms employment.

But fear is a good driver of governments to start to put into place the foundations of our new collective future.

There will be more jobs in the world in 10 years than there are now.
